What assurance readiness means
ESG assurance is an independent opinion on whether reported sustainability information is free from material misstatement. Readiness is the work done beforehand so that opinion can be given: source data that can be traced, calculation methods that are documented, and controls over the reporting process that an assurance provider can test.
Why organisations are unprepared
Because sustainability data was collected to fill a report, not to be audited. Figures arrive by email and spreadsheet. Estimates are applied without being labelled as estimates. Nobody owns the number in the way a financial controller owns a balance. The first assurance engagement usually finds this within a fortnight, and by then the timetable is fixed.
How CLA Emirates prepares you for assurance
We run a readiness assessment against the assurance standard you will face, most often ISAE 3000, and report the gaps by severity rather than by count. Work then focuses on the metrics most likely to be selected for testing: emissions, energy, workforce and safety. The output is a remediated data process with named owners and evidence retained by default, so the assurance provider tests a system rather than reconstructing one.
