When a commercial dispute turns on numbers, someone has to establish what those numbers are and defend the method used to reach them. Dispute support covers quantifying loss, testing the other side's calculation, assembling the documentary record, and where required giving evidence as an expert.
When to bring an accounting expert in
Earlier than most parties do. A quantum view taken before positions harden often changes the negotiating strategy, and occasionally shows that the claim is not worth pursuing. Once proceedings are underway the work is still valuable, but the scope is set by the pleadings rather than by the commercial question.
How we work alongside legal counsel
Under instruction, with the scope defined by the legal team and the analysis built to withstand cross-examination. Every figure traces to a source document. Assumptions are stated explicitly rather than embedded, because an assumption a tribunal cannot see is one it will not accept. Where we act as expert, our duty is to the tribunal and we say so in the report.
